Newham & UEL Swimming Club is
a successful local club based in Newham, East London (home of
the 2012 Olympics). We are run and managed by
volunteers; only the coaching staff are paid staff.
Here is a short summary of the
club's history:

Formed in 1991 when Plaistow and East
Ham Swimming Clubs merged

Grant aided by The London Borough of
Newham

Trains at Atherton, Balaam and East
Ham Leisure Centres and London Aquatics Centre

Competes in local league
events

Organises the London Borough of
Newham Swimming Championships

Assists in selecting the LBN Teams
for the London Youth Games and Mini Games

Supported the bid for London to host
the 2012 Olympics

Involved in the planning of the New
Aquatic Centre in Stratford

Has achieved the ASA/Swim
England
Swim 21
certification (which from April 2017 is
re-branded as ‘Swim Mark‘)
