Splash Gala - Round 2
(this is a team hosted event)
Saturday - 24th March 2018
Stoke Mandeville Stadium
Closing date for entry midnight Wednesday 14/03/2018 (to allow for team allocation / event organization).
Maxwell Swim Club is pleased to announce the second Splash Gala of the 2017-2018 season.
The gala series is aimed to be a friendly introduction to competition, and awards points for skills and technique while racing, placing a higher emphasis on skill development than on speed.
There will be team based awards on the day.
This gala is part of a series but there is no requirement to attend all of the rounds. There will be some awards based of individual progress throughout the season and between galas.
Eligible Swimmers: We hope to see ALL swimmers from the Maxwell Academy. Junior Development Squad and Swim Fit Squad from both Aylesbury and Buckingham are also welcome to take part. We are also pleased to invite those currently in the Bronze Academies at Aqua Vale and Swan Pool who are ASA NPTS Stage 7 or above.
Format: The swimmers will be placed into teams, led by Maxwell coaches, team managers and/or senior swimmers. This is an excellent opportunity to see what competition is like and be involved in a team event. Swimmers will be encouraged (but not forced) to take part in all the events, so if there is any event you think you may not wish to swim for any reason then please mention this when you book your place.
9 years/over events: 100m Medley; 50m Free; 50m Breast; 50m Kick; 50m Fly; 50m Back; Underwater Challenge (How far can you fly kick underwater?)
8 years/under and least experienced swimmers events: 100m Medley; 25m Free; 25m Breast; 50m Kick; 25m Fly; 25m Back; Underwater Challenge (How far can you fly kick underwater?)
Cost: The cost for this gala will be £10 per swimmer, which covers entry into all of the events.
Help required: This meet requires lots of volunteers. If you (adults and older swimmers) can help on the day then please sign-up using the job sign-up button on the top right of this page. No knowledge of swimming is required, guidance will be given on the day, and it is a great way to support the children. Any offers of help are greatly appreciated.
