There is ample free parking available at Crook Log and the Cafeteria will be open all day serving hot and cold food and drinks. The balcony at Crook Log is large and there will be plenty of seating available for spectators. We have a large number of swimmers taking part so the balcony will be busy and I ask that spectators do not reserve seats. The spectator entry fee is £3.00 per session or £5.00 for the day. We will also be running a raffle on both days.

Coach passes / packs will be available for collection on the day from the signing in tables. Please ask your Coaches to collect them from there. They are also welcome to come to the Officials room throughout the day for hot and cold drinks, breakfast and lunch.

Hire conditions at Crook Log dictate that large bags are not taken on to poolside. Swimmers should leave their large bags in the lockers provided and just bring a small bag containing their essential kit on to poolside. The lockers take a £1 coin and this is refunded.

We do have a Swim Shop coming along for the day – SRS Leisure – they sell a huge range of costumes and swimming equipment so this may be a good opportunity for you to purchase items that you need.

In a bid to keep things moving as quickly as possible, we will be adopting a slightly different approach in Backstroke events throughout the day. We will not be asking swimmers to clear the pool at the end of each race, instead we will ask the swimmers to hold the lane rope and stay in the corner of the lane whilst we get the next set of swimmers in and started. Once the race has started they should exit the pool by the side in the usual manner. Please ensure that swimmers are aware of this subtle change.

As always, we would appreciate offers of help from your Club Officials. If you have qualified Officials who would be able to assist at any session then please ask them to e-mail me and let me know. Additionally, we hope to be able to offer opportunities for mentoring trainees so again, please ask anybody interested to contact me.

If you are a Team Manager, can you please forward this e-mail to your swimmers and coaches as it contains essential information for the smooth running of the Meet.

I do hope that I haven’t missed anything. If you do have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail: john@edsc.org.uk

Again and as always, thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing you all at the Meet.

Best Wishes,

John Burdett.

The Club Entry for this Gala has now closed.  If you wish to enter you will need to do this directly by following the instructions on the EDSC Website.

Message from Julian

A lot of you have been querying whether they will accept Time Trials at this gala.  They normally have to close entries early for this gala as its always full well before the closing date so it is not likely that they will have space for Time Trials but they have said that if there is space after the closing date then they will revisit this - we will keep you informed.

The deadline for our Club Entry is fast approaching (Friday 7th September) so if you haven't submitted your forms please do so ASAP.

Please find attached the entry details relating to the Dartford District SC / Erith & District SC ‘Fireworks Meet’ taking place between 3-4 November 2018 at Crook Log Leisure Centre.

This is a licensed Level 3 Gala with Upper & Lower Qualifying Times – depending on stroke so please check them carefully.

Please read the conditions carefully before entering your child, making sure you are entering events that are open to them & if needs be speak with your coach.  Note this is an 'age as at 4/11/18' gala.

This gala is being run on a 'first come first served' basis so we would like to get our entries in well before the closing date to ensure that our swims are accepted.

If you'd like your swimmer to compete in this gala, the deadline for submitting both your entry form and payment to me is Friday 7th September 2018; please don’t leave it until the last minute!  As from Tuesday 1st May 2018, failure to make payment (at the latest) by the closing date, will see your swimmer removed and they will not be entered to swim.

Entries & payment details should be submitted either via:
•    email to julianking@hotmail.com or
•    post to Julian King, 36 Hampden Avenue, Beckenham, BR3 4HB.

  • Cheques should be made payable to Beckenham Swimming Club (not BSC) & please include the swimmer's name and 'FM18' on the back.
  • If you are paying by bank transfer, please REMEMBER TO USE THE NEW ACCOUNT (Sort Code: 60-02-12, Account 53746031), and please use FM18+Swimmer Surname as the reference.
  • In addition, as per the AGM documentation, the Club has introduced a £1 admin fee per swimmer/per gala to cover incremental bank fees so please can you add the extra £1 onto your payment (this is included on the entry form) per swimmer.

I look forward to receiving your entries.

Kind regards
Julian King
