Session 1

Our next session is Monday 1st October when The Spa will hopefully be more prepared for us!!!

Regards, Katrina :-)

Hi Everyone

The BSC Club Championships 2018 begin with Session 1 tonight.  Note that all squad training in the main pool at the Spa is cancelled tonight.

Races on the night will be:

  • 50m Freestyle
  • 50m Breaststroke
  • 200m Freestyle

The competition this year will be run by Katrina Pauling so please give her all your support!

  • Sign In takes place between 5.15pm-6pm on the night & will be located near the entrance to the changing rooms.  Swimmers must sign in for EACH EVENT that they have entered. There may be a queue on the night so please be patient & please be aware that the Spa is still open to other members at this time.
  • Warm Up will begin at 6pm & this year Session 1 will begin with Boys - swimmers are reminded that they are NOT allowed on poolside until 6pm & once a coach is present.
  • The competition will start at 6.30pm promptly.

  • When the Referee blows their whistle at the beginning of a heat being swum, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that everyone on poolside and up in the gallery, remains silent so swimmers waiting on the blocks can hear the commands from the Referee
  • Please ensure that all your children (swimmers & non-swimmers) are suitably supervised when up in the Gallery.
  • Please ensure that when your swimmers come up to the gallery that they are wearing something on their feet and not dripping wet!!

We are seriously short of the required number of qualified officials for tomorrow night so a huge call out to all our officials to ask if you can help out, please get in touch with David.  All officials now need to be J1 in training or above with timekeeping signed off.  If anyone is interested in becoming one of our licensed officials, please email David Ziwa (davidziwa@hotmail.com).

Thank you to all those that have volunteered to help out tomorrow night but we really need more help!  The roles are not difficult and allow you to be on poolside near the action.  If you are able to help out please let Katrina know.

Lastly to all our Swimmers, we hope you have a great competition and to our Spectators, we want to hear you all cheering everyone on!

Thank you!

Please find attached the Accepted Entries for this year's Club Championships.  Please check you are entered into the correct events and advise Katrina Pauling by close of play Tuesday 11th September if anything is amiss.

Hi Everyone!
It’s that time of year again, when we turn our attention to the BSC Club Championships 2018. Having done a wonderful job organising and coordinating the Championships for the last few years, Lindsey Davison has passed the role to me this year, and I look forward to organising the Championships in the forthcoming season.    Please find attached the entry details which include the entry form & championship conditions.  Please ensure you read everything and that you provide all the requested information to speed up the processing of your entry.
The annual Club Championships will take place over 6 Monday evenings between September - December 2018 at The Spa, Beckenham. They are for swimmers in Blue, White, Bronze, Silver, Club, Gold, Sprint and Top squads and all distances/events are included in the schedule.
For swimmers new to the Club who haven’t entered these Championships before, please check with your Coach as to which events your child should enter & take a look at the Club Website [Open Meets -> Club Championships ...you'll need to be logged in] to see past year's results and club records for each event or if you have any questions please email me.
All swimmers need to be ASA registered to compete in licensed galas.  If you are unsure of your swimmer's ASA number, it can be found by accessing this link:  http://www.swimming.org/swimengland/club-member-check/
All eligible swimmers should be entering this Competition, especially as it falls within the main training timetable.  We are a competitive swimming club and so swimmers should compete in these championships in order to make sense of all those hours of hard training throughout the year.
As in the last few years, we will be alternating the start between both girls and boys and in addition you will notice that the long distance events (800m and 1500m) are now open to both girls and boys (swimmers can only swim 1 event though given they're on the same evening).  Please, as with all galas, check with your coach as to which events your children should be swimming.
As always, these championships cannot take place without the help of you Parents so please complete the Helpers/Officials form provided and send in together with your entry form as soon as possible.  If you have never helped out before, please don't let this put you off - you will be given lots of guidance and there are a multitude of roles that need filling at each session!  This also includes our officials - on a couple of sessions last year we were very close to not having the sessions licensed due to not having enough officials turn up so please, please let us know you can help out!
A Raffle will be held on the last Club Champs Session in December.
I look forward to receiving your entry forms before the closing date of Friday 31st August 2018 & to holding a successful Championships this year!
Many thanks
Katrina Pauling
