Team Social visit to Clipper Round the World Race Yachts
I know that some members are aware that I will be part of the race crew on the Team UNICEF yacht (CV31) that is taking part in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2019 / 2020 that starts from St Katherine's Dock in London on Sunday 1st September 2019.
Next week I will be part of the delivery crew that will sail the Team UNICEF yacht to London in readiness for the start of the race. The Team UNICEF crew including myself are very keen to inspire young kids and adults too to take on adventures and challenges in life and would like to invite PBSC members to come along for a tour of our race yacht on Saturday 24th August 2019 at 08:45am at St Katherines Dock which is a 5 minute walk from Tower Hill Tube Station. There are a limited number of places and if any PBSC members would like to come along then I would be delighted to show you around the yacht so you can see how we will be living on board throughout the race.
My involvement in the race will be on Legs 5 and 6 which will see me joing the yacht in Airlie Beach in the Whitsunday Islands. I will then sail to Sanya in China then onto Subic Bay in the Phillipines and then Zhuhai in China where Leg 5 ends. Leg 6 is the biggest challenge when I will cross the "Mighty" Pacific Ocean and finishing in Seattle on the West Coast of America around the 18th April 2020. I have to admit I have had 2nd thoughts about this challenge; as you will see from the video accessed through the below link it is likely I will experience waves over 20m high.

If you would like to come along please drop me an email or speak to me at the pool before Sunday evening as I will be onboard and at sea next week with intermittent access to phones and email. There is also a Fanzone down at St Katherine's Dock so it would be a good day out for the family. There will be other yachts open for the public visit but this is a private group viewing of the Team UNICEF Yacht.
All the best,
PBSC Head Coach of the Junior Section
