Officials Training - J1 - Session 1
Venue 28, 28 Beckenham Road, Beckenham BR3 4LS
When your child starts being serious about swimming, he/she wants to enter various galas, which in time will allow him/her to enter higher level galas to perhaps go all the way to Nationals or even International Events.
For this to happen, one important ingredient is that galas are licensed, allowing achieved times during those galas to be validated and reusable towards other galas entries.
This is where you might be able to help (I hope you will!). For a gala to be licensed, we need a minimum number of trained/in training officials.
Kent ASA have organised a training session on the 19th of September at Venue 28, 28 Beckenham Road, Beckenham BR3 4LS, 19:00-21:00.
That initial session is aimed at beginners. Once training is complete , people will become J1s (please email me if you need more details what the training involves, but it'll be all explained a the training) and will be able to be time keepers or inspector of turns.
We need parents to become officials. The more we get, the less we rely on a handsful of people and the less problem we have licensing our own galas (club champs, autumn gold, xmas gold, distance TT)
Every year we naturally loose a few people so please get involved: being an official is not daunting, it is fun, you are on poolside, close to the action and you get to understand the world of competitive swimming a lot better.
One thing that is really important: we will never force you to officiate if you can't or don't want to.
I can promise you that we will beg you on occasions, but if you say no, there won't be any hardfeelings! (and no need to justify your answer too BTW)
So please come along on the 19th. If after that you think it isn't for you, fair enough, but I doubt it!
If you cannot make the 19th, but are interested, please email me. I'll see what can be done.
