FOR SWIMMERS IN BLUE, BRONZE, WHITE, SILVER, CLUB, SHARKS, PERFORMANCE 3, 2 & 1

Dear all,

Our 2019 Club Championships continue on Monday evening, 11th November, with Session 4.  Please note that all squad training in the main pool at the Spa will be cancelled on Monday evening.

Races on the night will be:

  • 100 IM
  •  800 Freestyle
  •  1500 Freestyle

The programme can be found here.  Please note, we will not be selling programmes on the door, so please download the programme to your phone!  Officials and Volunteers: please also note that we will not be handing out plastic bottles with water, so please bring your own water bottles which we will gladly fill for you.

SWIMMERS

  • Sign-in takes place between 5.15-6pm on the night and will be located near the entrance to the changing rooms.  Swimmers must sign in for each event that they have entered.  There may be a queue on the night, so please be patient and please be aware that the Spa will remain open to other members at this time.
  • Warm-Up will begin at 6pm and Session 4 will begin with the girls.  Swimmers are reminded that they are NOT allowed on poolside until 6pm and only then when a coach is present.
  • The gala will start at 6.30pm promptly
  • Please do not bring nut products poolside as some of our swimmers have nut allergies.

GALA ETIQUETTE

  • When the referee blows his/her whistle at the beginning of the heat being swum, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that everyone on poolside and up in the gallery remains silent to enable the swimmers on the blocks to hear the commands from the referee.
  • Please ensure that your children (swimmers and non-swimmers) are supervised at all times when up in the gallery.
  • Please ensure that when your swimmers come up to the gallery, they are wearing something on their feet and are not dripping wet.
  • Please ensure that you take all litter home with you.

OFFICIALS

Thank you to all officials who have volunteered their services to David.  Your time is hugely appreciated.  If you are J1 in training or above, with timekeeping signed off, and haven't yet volunteered your help, I am sure that David would love to hear from you, so please do get in touch with him.  Thank you to our new volunteers who are beginning their training to become officials.  If anyone else is interested in becoming one of our licensed officials, please email David

VOLUNTEERS

Thank you to all our volunteers who are helping out on Monday evening.  Your help is also very much appreciated and I know Hannee has emailed you separately with your specific roles.  We are always in need of more volunteers and with three sessions still to go, Hannee would love to hear from you if you are able to offer your help.  The roles are easy and fun, and allow you to be poolside, closer to the action, so please do consider helping out.

Finally, a message of Good Luck to all our swimmers, especially those swimming a distance swim for the first time!  Go, smash it!

Kind regards,

Katrina

Hi Everyone!

It’s that time of year again when we turn our attention to the BSC Club Championships 2019Please click on the link below for the entry details:

Entry Form & Championship Conditions  -  MS Word version
Entry Form & Championship Conditions    -  PDF version

Please ensure you read everything and that you provide all the requested information to speed up the processing of your entry.

The annual Club Championships will take place over 6 Monday evenings between September - December 2019 at The Spa, Beckenham. They are for swimmers in Blue, White, Bronze, Silver, Club and Performance squads (3, 2 & 1) and all distances/events are included in the schedule.

For swimmers new to the Club who haven’t entered these Championships before, please check with your Coach as to which events your child should enter & take a look at the Club Website. Open Meets -> Club Championships ...you'll need to be logged in to see past years' results and club records for each event or if you have any questions please email me.

All swimmers need to be ASA registered to compete in licensed galas.  If you are unsure of your swimmer's ASA number, it can be found by accessing this link:  http://www.swimming.org/swimengland/club-member-check/

Coaches would like all eligible swimmers to enter this Competition, especially as it falls within the main training timetable.  We are a competitive swimming club and so swimmers should compete in these championships in order to make sense of all those hours of hard training throughout the year.

The format of these Championships is exactly the same as last year.  We will be alternating the start between both girls and boys and the long distance events (800m and 1500m) are now open to both girls and boys (swimmers can only swim 1 event though given they're on the same evening).  Please, as with all galas, check with your coach as to which events your children should be swimming.

As always, these championships cannot take place without the help of our Parents so please complete the Helpers/Officials form provided and send in together with your entry form as soon as possible.  If you have never helped out before, please don't let this put you off - you will be given lots of guidance and there are a multitude of roles that need filling at each session!  This also includes our officials - on a couple of sessions last year we were very close to not having the sessions licensed due to not having enough officials turn up so please, please let us know you can help out!

A Raffle will be held on the last Club Champs Session in December - further details will be sent out nearer the time.

I look forward to receiving your entry forms before the closing date of Monday 2nd September 2019 & to holding a successful Championships this year!

Many thanks
Katrina Pauling
