A massive congratulations to all our Cheddar Kingfisher swimmers this weekend who have been competing at Hutton Moor. Leo, Ava, Lucie, Sophie, Annabelle, Amalia, Grace, Naomi, Amelia, Amelia, Jake, and Dylan – you can be feeling very proud of your achievements tonight! Between you all, you raced 4900 metres over 54 events, coming away with PBs, County Qualifying times, and a selection of medals (7 golds, 2 silvers and 5 bronze). Thank you to all the volunteers, team managers and Jeff for your time this weekend.
Last weekend saw many of our swimmers back at Hutton Moor for the Clevedon and Trident Meet. It was great to see a couple of new faces as well as our regulars in the pool. It feels like it’s been a while since Cheddar Kingfishers have been sat poolside cheering each other on. There were lots of PBs, some first-time swims and an impressive number of medals. This weekend saw 6 Kingfishers at Hengrove at a very busy, competitive meet.Keira kicked the weekend off on Saturday with the 50 Fly knocking off 0.22 seconds, then returned last thing to swim another PB in 100 Free. Grace Hatherall’s ski holiday served her well and she returned just in time to PB in both the 50 Free and 50 Fly. Last weekend 13 Kingfishers participated in the Soundwell Level 3 Regional Qualifier at Hutton Moor. Here’s how they got on… Hallie swam a confident 50 Breast in a time of 43.44 and 50 Free in 33.65. Zoe was on great form, swimming a strong 50 Free, 50 Fly and 100 Free. She came 3rd in 200 Free with a PB of 2.48 seconds and 2nd in 400 Free dropping a significant 11.12 seconds. Last Saturday evening we were again in the water for Round 4 of the Cotswold League 2023. It was hosted by the most amazing club with their fantastic new starting kit, Cheddar Kingfishers… oh yes, us! I experienced my first Team Manager Role and can honestly say I was really impressed with the behaviour, levels of excitement and organisation of the children. Cheddar Kingfishers Swimming Club has enjoyed the last few months of swimming with great success. They swam to an amazing second place in the Cotswold League Final back in May, with the younger members of the team enjoying a fun afternoon of swimming in Bridgwater for the Four Seasons gala at the beginning of July. The Easter weekend saw Cheddar Kingfishers heading to Hutton Moor for the return of the popular Weston-super-Mare Easter Swimming Meet. Eight swimmers between them achieved 30 new personal best times (PBs), 9 third places, 8 second places and 6 first places with a gold medal. The younger members of Cheddar Kingfishers Swimming Club had a great evening of swimming at Brean Leisure Centre on Saturday, 9th April, in the third of the Four Seasons gala of the 2021/22 season. The evening was kicked off with Zoe Alvey quick off the blocks finishing 2nd, and Dylan Wines swimming the 12/u 100m IM race. Cheddar Kingfishers proved that all the hard work and training has been paying off. 11 swimmers travelled to Cardiff on the weekend of 19th and 20th March to compete in the Tiger Bay Open Meet. Gold medals were won in a variety of races, 13 year old Zara Bird winning 1st place in both 50m and 100m Back, with 11 year old sister Fay coming first in the 200m Breast. The sisters also won silver medals in the 200m Back for Zara, and Faye finished second in the 100m Breast....
Cheddar Kingfishers Swimming Club made a strong start to their Cotswold 2022 Series Gala campaign at Kings College School in Taunton on Saturday, 26th February.
