CMK at British Summer Champs

Some 16 CMK swimmers qualified to compete at the Swimming British Summer Champs in Sheffield in July.

Max Murphy won 2 medals, a silver medal in the 17&18yrs 1500m and a bronze in the 400m. Max's swims were both county records and the fastest for a 17yr old. Max also made the final of the 200m Freestyle.

Aiyana Lawson was 4th in the 16yrs 100m Breaststroke and 5th on the 50m in a new county record. Aiyana also made finals in the 200m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley. Lottie Wynne-Jones best position was 5th in the 100m Butterfly (3rd fastest 14yr old and a  county record). Lottie also made finals in the 50m Butterfly, 100m and 200m Backstroke.

Medal haul

Jamie Hanss was 5th in the 14yrs 100m Freestyle. Isobel Jones made the final of the 19&over 200m Backstroke. Lucy Farmer also made the final of the 17&18yrs 50m Butterfly. Miles Drabwell (200m Back), Elliot Jones (50m Free) competed well with fast heat times but just missed finals.

These results represent CMK's second best medal haul ever at National level and our  highest number of swims in finals underlying continued greater depth.

Open water splash

Other swimmers involved in relay teams were Tyler Reeve, Josh Press, Kaelah Lawson, Yasmin Dos Santos, Grace Spong, Ellie Ward and Rhiannon Jeffries.

Kaelah Lawson was 12th in the 3km open water in a cold lake swim the day after the pool based meet.

CMK swimmer at the World Champs

Jocelyn Ulyett was competing at the World Championships in Budapest instead at the same time. Joss swam well on the 200m Breaststroke with her second best time ever just missing the final by 0.01 to the new 100m world record holder, Lilly King. Charlotte Evans competed at the Summer Champs but whilst training hard to focus on the World University Games in Taipei coming soon.

English Summer Champs

Gold Medalists were Lottie Wynne-Jones (200&400m Freestyle) and Marcus Johnson on the Men's 1500m Freestyle. Lottie also picked up a silver in the 50m Back as did Miles Drabwell in the 200m IM. Jamie Hanss won a bronze on 50m Butterfly. Aiyana Lawson just missed a medal on 200m Backstroke. Other finalists were Grace Spong (50m Back) and Elliot Jones (100m Free).
