Hitchin Swimming Club compete in Long Distance Meet

Five Hitchin Swimming Club swimmers competed at the Basildon Long Distance Meet on Saturday 2nd December.

Lucy King was the first to swim in the 800m Freestyle.  She recorded a new personal best time of 9:55.72 improving her own club record by just over five seconds.

In the boys’ 1500m event, Mark Evens was the first to swim.  He put in a very solid performance finishing in a time of 21:43.35 just outside his own Down’s Syndrome World Record.  Adam Evens and Matteo Lo Biundo competed in the same heat.  Both boys had superb swims.  Matteo improved on his entry time by 46 seconds to finish in a time of 18:33.25 while Adam knocked 41 seconds off his entry time to finish in 17:49.37.  Both boys achieved consideration times for the forthcoming County Championships.  Last to swim was Daniel English.  He had a very strong swim holding his pace throughout the race finishing in a time of 17:22.89 securing both a County qualifying time and club record.

Well done to all five of them.  We look forward to seeing them race these events at Counties in February 2018.
