British Fin Swimming Championships 2017
03 January 2018
On Saturday 2nd December a small team of 9 swimmers headed into central London to take part in the British Fin Swimming Championships. Fin Swimming is one of the fastest growing aquatic sports and a big sport in Europe. As the name suggests, swimmers compete with Fins, as well as snorkels. However, these are no ordinary fins with swimmers in some races having to use a mono-fin - one large fin that both feet go into! KRSC's very own Coach Eszter has been involved in Fin Swimming for almost 20 years and, under her guidance, the team of 9 (herself included) took on the best Fin Swimming Clubs in Britain.
In the end, KRSC finished in 4th place overall in the team competition, narrowly missing out on a team Bronze. KRSC swimmers took 15 Gold, 14 Silver and 8 Bronze between individual races and relays.
The evening was topped off with KRSC National Squad member, Lucy Hawley, setting British National Records in the 25m, 50m, 100m & 200m BiFin (swimming with fins).
Age Group Performance Squad member, Jodie Morrison, a British Age Group Record in 25m BiFin and Coach Sonn a British Age Group Record in 50m BiFin.
A massive congratulations to all those who took part!
