CARADON FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY
DOING WHAT YOU ALL DO BEST… SWIM
PLYMOUTH SWIMARATHON 2018, Saltash Leisure Centre
Saturday March 3rd 12.00pm - 6.00pm and Sunday March 4th 4.00pm - 6.00pm
The Swimarathon is a fun and fund-raising event, organised by the Lions Club of Plymouth. All funds raised are split 50%/50%. Last year 5 of our swimmers attended and raised over £400 split between our club funds and the lion’s charities.
Last year’s Swimarathon raised over £8,000 respectively. This year Plymouth Lions charities are New Life Charity for Disabled Children and Luke’s Hospice Plymouth plus other local charities.
This was great fun last year, and we are looking for teams to represent the club again. Each slot is made of 4 teams swimming across the lanes, so if we can get 4 teams we might be able to swim in the same one-hour slot and give a real Caradon feel to the fun session.
Each team will consist of 5 swimmers, who swim in relays for 50 minutes. This is not a race, however last year Caradon came second to Plymouth Leander in the most amount of lengths swam over the 50 minutes, so no pressure!!! There will be awards for the teams in each category which complete the highest number of length. All entrants will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
If you would like to enter please let me know by the close of play on Friday 20th January, so that I can get our slot reserved. This will be on the Saturday, but I cannot tell you the session time now. If you want to organise your own team that is fine, just let me know who they are.
Once teams are agreed you will be sent a sponsor form, you can also set up a just giving page if you prefer to arrange your sponsors this way as it does save you collecting the funds after the event. The team found this easier last year as it enables club members to support teams and individual swimmers.
What a great fun way to raise money for the club, doing what you do best!
