19 January 2018
Stourbridge kicked off 2018 with some great swims at the PGL Ross league on Saturday 13th January. It is always a tricky one to predict with many swimmers attending a gala for the first time and many more getting PB's after their Christmas break which subsequently lead to speeding tickets. There were also quite a few swimmers unable to swim due to illness. Unfortunately, this resulted in a 4th place finish.
However, what was fantastic to see, was the support of the more experienced swimmers towards the younger children, helping out and reminding them what was coming up. With this support, the younger swimmers swam fantastically and hopefully as they become more experienced they will be able to encourage the newer swimmers.
Thank you to all our parent helpers, especially my last minute ones! It was great to see new parents getting 'stuck in' as well as our more permanent fixtures, we couldn't do it without you.
Well done to those who gained a new PB or speeding ticket, keep it up! Also well done to those not competing in their usual stroke. I look forward to the next round where hopefully we will be back up to a full team and we can improve on our first performance.
