At the other end of the swimming scale from Herts Counties, Zoe Doyle and Mark Strakosch journeyed to the K2 pool in Crawley for the South-East Masters long course championships. It was Doyle’s first long course experience but she was not fazed and came away with 2 silvers and a bronze from her 3 races. In the 100m free she posted 1:11.61, faster than her short course best and with a 32.81 second 50m Free she claimed another silver. Then, setting off with a first half of 6:33 in the 800m she finished strongly to record 13.12.46 for the bronze, some 20 seconds faster than her short course time.
Mark Strakosch was disappointed with his 10:44 for the 800m but this was just 8 seconds slower than his best for the silver medal.
A great weekend of competition across the ages for the club, well done to our Masters swimmers.
