12 June 2018
With just under a week to go before our meet, I would just like to remind all those entered into the meet to please let me know during the course of this week if a swimmer is unable to compete in any events over the course of the 4 sessions so I can officially withdraw them before the weekend. Empty lanes mean that the swimmer allocated to that heat and lane failed to withdraw in time. Empty lanes can have a negative impact upon the performance of other swimmers and, therefore, we would either prefer to fill the lane with a time trial or reorganise the heats accordingly. By reducing lanes, we can also reduce the number of heats which potentially means an earlier finish time each day. To this end, I should be grateful if you would use the official Withdrawal Form (click blue link to open) to make withdrawals
Withdrawals on the day should, where possible, be made via Club Coaches. However, there will be a withdrawal desk at the Entrance Desk to the Viewing Gallery for anybody who has been unable to contact their coach and needs to make any last minute withdrawals. Please note that all withdrawals should be made BEFORE the Warm Up. Any withdrawals made AFTER the warm up has started cannot be processed as seeding will already have been completed and the appropriate heat sheets will be in the process of being printed.
We will be offering Time Trials on the day at a cost of £6.50 per race. Time trials can be booked at the Entrance Desk to the Viewing Gallery.
Click the blue link to access the Finalised Timings Programme of Events showing specific warm up and start times for Sessions 2 and 4, together with the projected finish times for each day. Please ensure all your swimmers are provided with a copy of this document.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The finalised timings supplied in the Programme of Events have been worked out on the basis we will be running 8 lanes of swimmers. However, we are desperately short of officials and, in the event no officials step forward, we will have to reduce swimming to 6 lanes which we would like to avoid. Therefore, if you are a qualified official and can assist, please make your availability and level of qualification known to:-
as soon as possible. If you are not a qualified official but are interested in becoming one, a course is being run on the morning prior to the meet. Please contact Claire on the e-mail above to register your interest. .In the event no officials step forward and we have to run the meet with 6 lanes, the meet timings will be revised and circulated towards the end of the week.
We are also still in need of some non-technical roles being filled. If you can help for a session, please sign up for any vacant roles via the Job Sign Up button which appears next to the meet on the Team Unify website meet calendar. You will be fully briefed on what your role entails on the day.
It would be helpful if you could encourage swimmers to put whatever belongings they can in lockers. Please remind swimmers the lockers require a £1 coin which is refundable.
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at:-
or on my mobile: 07920 012361. Please be aware that mobile phone reception is very poor in the Xcel Centre so messages on the day may not potentially get through to me (although I will try to go outside before each session in an attempt to pick up any last minute messages).
Good luck at the weekend!
