20 swimmers from Caradon Swimming
Club have successfully completed the Swim England Swim Club Award 1
and 2 . The Swimming Club Awards help children make the
transition from the Swim England Learn To Swim Programme to a club
level swimmer and have been introduced to the Development squads
within the club.
With the absences of competitions and the support of St Mellion
Health and Leisure Club and our sponsor for this initiative,
Newman Haulage, Torpoint, we have been able to reward our swimmers
for their hard work and commitment as we all continue our
journey out of lockdown and back to competitive sport.
Congratulations to all our swimmers in Squad 1 and 2 who have
achieved these awards. Thank you so much to Peter Newman of
Newman Haulage for your sponsorship for this.
On top of running the Club Awards, Caradon have also introduced
regular Swim England Level X competitions to allows our
athletes to complete time-trials in a full programme of events,
held at LUX Park in Liskeard, with the results then being collated
and displayed on leaderboards when the series concludes. The
competitions provide a vital opportunity for swimmers to work
on their race skills, giving them the chance to assess progress and
gain qualifying times for the upcoming Swin England -
South West's Festival of Swimming.
Finally, although 2020 did not end up as we all hoped, 20 swimmers
were awarded within the Club with a Regional Qualifying hat,
produced by Swimzi. This was in recognition of achieving the 2020
qualifying times. This would have been Caradon's most successful
year for a regional level event.
