Great Swims at British Para Swimming Meet 2022

Caitlin Trevor and Benny Romberg headed to Aberdeen to Race in the British Para Swimming Meet that was incorporated into the Para Swimming World Series.

This high profile meet saw a number of new records set and the standard at the meet was very high with some of the best Para swimmers from around the world attending, including current and past Paralympic Champions.

Caitlin competed in 4 events.  Her first event was the 100m Freestyle and she was just outside her Personal Best ("PB").  Caitlin's second event was the 200m IM where she earned a place in the finals.   The finals saw Caitlin knock nearly 5 seconds off the time she achieved in the heats and she smashed her Long Course PB in the process.   Caitlin's third event of the meet was the 100m Breaststroke where she was just outside her PB.   Caitlin's final event saw her step up and set a new PB in the heats which earnt her another place in the finals.   Huge congratulations to Caitlin for some swims.

Not to be outshone, Benny Romberg had an amazing meet.  Benny competed in 6 events and came away with 5 Long Course PBs. Benny knocked over 30 seconds off his 200m IM PB and over 40 seconds off his 400m Freestyle PB.   Other highlights included knocking 13 seconds off his 100m Breaststroke PB and making the final heat of the 50m Freestyle.  Good job Benny!!!

The four day meet was held at the Aberdeen Aquatic Centre with its amazing facilities.  Both Benny and Caitlin had very little rest at this meet as when they were not swimming they were being put through their paces by Head Coach Paul Hurley, in the training pool. The Mantra of Eat, Swim, Sleep and Repeat was fitting for this event!!!

Well done Caitlin and Benny, you did us all proud !!!
