11 December 2017
On Sunday 11th Dec several swimmers braved the snowy weather to head to The Venue, Borehamwood for the ‘final’ Last Chance Qualifying meet for County Champs, run by Harpenden swimming club.
Adi Cooper smashed out 7 races in the first session and a further 5 in the second session as well. Having started with the 400m Free he finished with a massive 11.5 second improvement in the 200m free.
Callum & Harrison Bullock arrived towards the end of the first session after a 4 hour journey for the 30 miles and stepped straight in to the 50m Free with both of them recording personal bests of 29.18 and 29.38 respectively.
In the second session they also swam a total of 11 races between them.
Peter Lever, recovered from the previous night’s exertions got within 0.02 seconds of his 50m free pb with 27.47 and Tamsin Moren stepped up to record a pb in the 50m fly (40.24) as she swept to a 2:55.83 in her opening event, the 200m IM.
Izzy Sansom was another who arrived only in time for the 2nd session and swam all of her 7 events in the one session whilst the final 2 swimmers who managed to get to the pool were brothers Yazeed and Omar Swarray-Deen competing in the 50m Free & 50m Breast events.
Competition is now over for 2017 but, after the Christmas festivities the club will be back in the thick of things with Herts League and County Champs coming up in the first weeks of January.
A big thank you to the following volunteers and officials, without whom we could not support our swimmers, especially considering the weather conditions.
Officials - Jo Sansom, Tara Bullock & Simon Lever
Volunteer - Tracey Moren
Coach - Geoff Wood
Again thank you all very much for yet again taking time from your weekend to support the swimmers and Club.
