On Sunday 4 more swimmers had a successful time at the Southbury Road pool in Enfield for the Hoddesdon Summer Sprint meet.
Newcomer Kate Hopper swam faster than ever before in all of her 3 races despite being disqualified in 2 and takes the positives from what she now knows she can achieve. Her 200m IM was 3 seconds quicker than her month old best and she lowered her 50m Back best to 41.23 before finishing first in her 100m Free heat in a head to head with Seren Diehl when they simply swam away from their opposition. Seren was 5th in that event in her age group.
Seren’s 50m back provided a silver medal for her as she improved to 40.74 with a silky smooth swim. Her 1:18.12 for the 100m Free was a 6 second improvement and she was 4th in the 50m Free (35.35) and 5th in the final event, the 50m Fly in another best time of 41.72.
Abbie Briers and Emma Hockney joined with a bang after lunch. Emma took gold in her 50m Free (32.25) as her stroke starts to come together and Abbie took silver in a new pb of 30.88.
Abbie dropped her 100m back to 1:21.93 with an impressive heat win for another silver medal and made it 3 silvers from 3 swims in the 50m fly with another pb of 35.29.
Emma swam a lovely technically accurate 100m Back to clock 1:29.12, finished 5th in her 50m fly and touched first by a long way in her 100m breast some 11 seconds faster than she has gone before.
