CMK swimmers at British Championships
08 May 2017
Six CMK swimmers competed at the British Championships in Sheffield in April. This meet is the key selection meet for British Swimming.
Max Murphy had a very good meet making Junior (18 and under) finals in the 200m and 400m Freestyle. Max swam brave race plans, leading at halfway but just getting caught towards the end.
Following these excellent performances Max will swim for England in the Mare Nostrum Series later this season.
Lucy Farmer and Aiyana Lawson both swam personal bests just missing out on finals. This means CMK swimmers had their best team performance at this meet. Isobel Jones returned from university in the US to swim for CMK. She struggled early in the meet but showed great character to swim a strong 200m Backstroke to win the 'Target Tokyo' final.
Joss Ulyett and Charlotte Evans both train at Loughborough University and continued their growth as world class athletes. Joss won the 200m Breaststroke in a new British Record and was also 3rd on the 100m. Joss' time places her 2nd in the current world rankings. She will now prepare for the World Champs with the British team. Charlotte Evans produced significant personal bests throughout the meet and came 3rd in the 200m Back. Two former CMK swimmers Mike Witham and Cameron Manley also performed well.
CMK Head Coach said: "This is a milestone meet for us. Our junior athletes performed really well; we got our preparation just right. The seniors away at Universities had stunning success."
