WDSC swimmers at the British Modern Biathlon Championships

Five WDSC swimmers took part in the Modern Biathlon Championship finals in Solihull on 26th November. This event comprises a 200m swim and a 1600m run (completed separately), and is part of the grass-roots development of Modern Pentathlon. All the girls who competed had qualified through the earlier rounds held in September and early October.
The results were fantastic, showing that all the hard work of the past couple of months has paid off:

  • Ella Dyson 6th in Under 14 Girls
  • Rachel Cornford 4th in Under 15 Girls
  • Katie Haveron-Jones 14th in Under 15 Girls
  • Maria Rees 8th in Under 17 Girls
  • Dani Kidd 6th in Under 19 Girls.

Special mentions:
Rachel Cornford was first in the swim in her age group.
Katie Haveron-Jones went into the competition ranked 33rd and massively improved her run from the qualifying round to jump up the rankings to 14th overall.

WDSC swimmer Sarah Collin was also present at the Championships in her capacity representing PentathlonGB, and she presented the awards to the younger competitors.
