Otters News 6

It has been a busy two weeks for swimmers across many different squads in Otters.

The evening of Saturday 2nd December saw 14 girls and 14 boys from our junior development squads attend the Amersham Novice Gala where most of the swimmers had only ever competed in our Club Champs before. Some of the other clubs at the competition gave their more experienced swimmers an opportunity to compete which makes our result a great achievement and congratulations to all the swimmers.  Agnes would also like to say a big thank you to all the parents for stepping up and helping out at the gala.

Moving onto last weekend Max Tulloch was competing in Manchester at the National Para Swimming Championships. He swam in 7 events and achieved 6 silver medals (50, 100, 400FC, 100BR, 100FLY and 100BK) - Brilliant, well done Max!

Saturday night also saw Round 3, the Final Round of the Arena League at the Magnet Leisure Centre which was organised by Otters. It was very exciting and very loud as all teams competed for points across a number of age groups (and the points were very close!).  We had some challenges at the last minute with illness and injuries but managed to finish in 4th place on the night. This means after the 3 rounds Chalfont Otters finished in 10th place in Division 1 which is the highest position Otters have ever finished. A huge well done to all the swimmers, parents and helpers.

Well done to Liz Lee and Sarah McGarvie who have passed their classroom assessment for Judge Level 1, just waiting now to have their poolside assessment. If you are interested in becoming an official, starting with being a Time Keeper please contact We need officials to be able to run our own Club Champs so please consider volunteering as without parents coming forward we would be unable to run galas.

Finally thinking about running our own gala - good luck to all the swimmers competing next Saturday and Sunday at the COCA (Chalfont Otters, Chesham, Amersham) Gala. This really is the last chance to get any County times as entries for Counties need to be submitted by Sunday 24th December - Swim Fast!
