Keep Calm and Swim!
Message from Head Coach
January kicked off the first of the Surrey County Championship weekends.
FSC was represented by eight swimmers who had qualified for the first day’s events held Saturday 13th at Surrey Sports Park. The first event to be contested was the boys 400m Free, FSC was led by Elliot Morpuss who finished in 6th place in the 16 year old boy division, Alessandro Harker finished in 8th place in the 14 year old division and Alex Riddell finished in 28th place in the 13 year old division. Next up was the girls 200m Backstroke where Georgia Strode finished in 6th place in the 12 year old girls division, sister Amy also finished in 6th place in the 14 year old division and finally Molly Webster finished in 8th place in the 17 year old girls division. On to the boys 200m IM, both Elliot and Alessandro finished in 6th place in the 16 and 14 year old divisions. In the girls 100m Breaststroke Georgia Strode finished in 14th place in the 12 year old division and Ella Cheesman finished in 9th place in the 13 year old division, just missing qualifying for the final after recently returning to the pool recovering from a broken leg! In the boys 100m Free Elliot made it to the final and finished in 6th place in the 16 year old division while Alessandro finished 10th in the boys 14 year old division. The final event of the day was the girls 200m Butterfly where Amy Strode just missed making the podium finishing in 4th place in the 14 year old division, meanwhile her sister Georgia finished in 9th place followed by Eleanor Stanbury who finished 19th in the 12 year old division.
Overall it was a very good day’s swimming and a great start to our 2018 County Championships campaign.
Message From Chairman
We are now officially entering our 125th year of operation since the club was founded in 1893! This is such a fantastic milestone for all of us and we want to make the best out of it. How often will we get to celebrate another 125 years?! We are working on more special events and initiatives like our '125 Year Gold' kit which will run through the next months to commemorate our anniversary, and our special Awards evening which had great success! We were all delighted to see so many of you attending and we hope you all had a good time. Your kids and our volunteers are all working super hard to make it a great February too.
Message from Treasurer – PLEASE Update Standing Orders
Please check your standing orders (particularly Frogs RED) are correct and any balance due is paid, however small! This seems to be a continuing issue at present and thank you to those who have addressed this already.
Important News & Reports
1. Club Presentation Night
We had our Annual “Farnham Swimming Club” Awards Night at a new venue – Weydon School.
Firstly, thank you to everyone who attended, the whole evening ran so smoothly (and on time!) and what a fantastic turn out! It was lovely to see the swimmers (old and young) joining in the activities together. I say “old and young” because even the Masters had a game of musical chairs! We are all young at heart! I would also like to say a big thank you to every single person who attended that night. We, Farnham Swimming Club, have had glowing reviews from the school and are welcomed back to use the school for hire in the future.
Secondly, well done to everyone who received awards; so many hard working and talented swimmers we have! If you were unable to make the event and think you might need to collect an award, please ask the Sunday desk as they will have more details. Keep up the good work!
2. Meet and Event Payments
This is a reminder as we have received a few questions on payments and payment references. We kindly ask you to note down and keep the below:
Meet and Event Payments Account
All meet, gala and social events payments should be made using the following payment details: Sort Code 20-31-06 Account Number 63534898
The above sort code and account number should be used for any meet, competition, social and other future event payments. For every payment, you will be asked to use the equivalent reference (i.e. XXX18 + LAST NAME) via a corresponding email from the Events Secretary or Club Secretary. Please help us by making sure you include the right reference for your payments, as any inconsistency creates additional workload for the secretaries and the Club Treasurer. To assist you in this, please note down the below.
References for immediate payments
1. For Surrey County Championship entries use reference CT18 + LAST NAME
2. For Club Kit use reference KIT18 + LAST NAME
3. For the Awards night use reference AWDS18 + LAST NAME
4. For the Atlantis Spring Meet use reference ATLSSP18 + LAST NAME
5. For the Hart Spring Meet use reference HARTSP18 + LAST NAME
There are still quite a few pending payments. Please make sure you do this as soon as possible, as the Club pays for these well in advance.
Membership Fee Payments Account
Monthly membership fees should be paid via standing order only on the 1st of the month using these payment details: Sort Code 20-31-06 Account# 83614506.
When setting up the standing order, kindly include the Last/First name of the swimmer as a reference (for example, SMITH JOHN). Please note that if you have more than one swimmers, you should setup a standing order for each one. This will help us track the payments better and avoid building up email traffic in your inbox by sending you unnecessary follow up communications. Kindly make sure you are paying the right amount for your child/squad. If you change squads, you will be sent information on the new membership fees by the Membership Secretary, with instructions to update your standing order.
No other payments except monthly membership fees are made into the membership fees account.
We hope the above helps. If you have any questions or clarifications, please visit our help desk (every Sunday from 5pm-6:30pm in the Farnham Leisure Centre hall) or you can contact a member of the Club Committee.
