Rushmoor Royals Meet
JAGs and SAGs swimmers travelled to the Aldershot Garrison pool over the weekend (24th-25th February) for the Rushmoor Royals Regional Qualifier. This two day event was not a target meet so the swimmers who attended had been working extremely hard in training since our successful County championships and were already a little tired even before the meet began.
Swimmers were given specific targets to achieve during the meet executing perfect skills including turns, underwater phases and breathing patterns. SAGs swimmers were also using the meet as a race pace training exercise, so they were asked to forget normal race tactics and try to produce maximum effort from the beginning.
In spite of the heavy training and being asked to swim outside of their comfort zones, there were many medal winning performances and a few of the swimmers managed to achieve or better previously gained regional times. In total across the five sessions Camden Swiss Cottage swimmers won a total of 28 gold medals, 20 silvers and 15 bronze medals.
As a coach I was extremely pleased with the effort level and more importantly with the attitude that the SAGs swimmers maintained throughout the meet and I know that Kylie felt the same way about the JAGs swimmers.
