I want to start by thanking our volunteers. We are an all-volunteer club and without your help we can’t compete in team event galas or run club championships. Nicki Simpkins, Mark Middleton, Penny Curtis, Natalie Player and Caroline Wright all stepped up to officiate for this round, and Donna Stacy was great giving out the sweets and drinks to keep all the officials hydrated. I also want to thank the coaches who were managing the team poolside; Ali Haxworth and Diane Ewart were making sure all the swimmers were in the right place at the right time. Thank you all so much.

The swimming was great, the kids were enjoying it, the noise was tremendous, and the Wantage Parents drowned the others out when our 10 and under 4x 25m Boys Relay team were coming in to win their race (Patrick Kelleher, Salvador Goncalves, Will Stacy and James Haxworth all swimming really well).

We were short older boys and girls. Once again Mathew Wright put in a sterling performance swimming pretty much everything from individual 12 and 14 under events all the way through to Men’s Open Relays, and this time he was joined by Quinn Miell-Ingram doing exactly the same! But it wasn’t just the boys I also want to mention Lilly Mason and Amy Wright who stepped up into Ladies Open individual events and relays swimming with great attitude, and effort. And don’t think that it was just those I’ve mentioned; all the swimmers really put the effort in for the team. I’d love to put them all in the message because they all deserve the recognition. Thanks so much for the effort that you all put in.

A great result, I know we improved on our last round . Many thanks again to all the swimmers and volunteers, and it’s only left for me to say … get ready for next year!

Best regards,

Ewan
