A very warm welcome to our new Assistant Performance Coach Joe Evans

WDSC are pleased to announce that on the 25th June our new Assistant Performance Coach, Joe Evans, will start coaching at WDSC. He will immediately pick up the duties of coaching Potential One and will be working with our Lead Performance Coach, Josh Atkins in the coaching of the Junior Performance squad until the end of the season; ready to take over the lead coaching of this squad in the new season.

Joe has had a great start in coaching having held junior coaching positions at the City of Cardiff and City of Coventry Swimming Clubs. He is currently the lead coach to the Junior Performance squad at Coventry and has achieved great successes over the last year. With a degree in Sports Coaching and holding his Level 2 in Coaching, he comes to WDSC with a great foundation, ready to take lead of two key foundation squads at our club. Joe was also a National level swimmer, having competed for Stratford Sharks and the City of Cardiff where his main events were the 200 and 400 Free.

Joe’s very much looking forward to starting at WDSC, commenting I am excited to be joining the team at Wycombe and looking forward to working with the swimmers and coaches especially after recent results, and hope that I can apply the knowledge and experiences I have gained to the role, to continue these achievements and develop the club”

Club Chairman Sam Sansome commented: 'We're thrilled to announce that Joe will become our new Assistant Performance coach, and really proud that we're able to continue to invest in the coaching at WDSC as the club grows. We've always been a community based club but can now nurture and support swimming to the highest levels and Joe's appointment is another big step in our club's ongoing story. I know that our members will welcome him to the team'.

Over the interim period (1st June to 24th June) the coaching of the Potential One squad will be overseen by Kevin and David with the support of other members of the coaching team - as was the case in September and October last year. This will only be short term until Joe starts officially on the 25th June.
