New records at South East Regionals

Maxwell swimmers break records at South East Regional championships

The South East regional championship is held over eight days across three weekends at the 50m pools in High Wycombe and Crawley. For some swimmers, as we mainly train and compete in 25m pools, this is the first time they may have swum competitively in 50m pools. Following on from the success of the county championships where we were an impressive second overall, this year Maxwell fielded a team of 24 swimmers including Lewis Baybutt, Poppy Baybutt, Amelie Bissett, Jake Chesworth, Rowan Cyster, Charlie Toms and Archie Walton – all of whom were competing at regionals for the first time.

The Maxwell team enjoyed a very successful championship winning two golds, a silver and five bronze medals.

The roll of honour included Kenji McDade, Gold in 200M Breaststroke, Bronze in both 100M Breaststroke & 400M Individual Medley; Millie Tomlin-Davies, Bronze in 200M Backstroke, Megan Pirrie, Bronze in 400M Individual Medley, Gracie Hudson, Gold 200M Breaststroke, Silver in the 100M Breaststroke and Bronze in the 200M Individual Medley.

In addition to the medallists Emma Whincup and Izzy Ford both made finals.

Club records tumbled with Gracie Hudson, who is only twelve years old, smashing the 200M Breaststroke record for girls of any age group, and Poppy Baybutt who broke the 11 year old 50M fly record for 12 year old girls by 1.5 seconds. Elle Cogan, Charlotte Downing, Kenji McDade and Millie Tomlin-Davies all also set new club records.

Also swimming at regionals were Amber Cook, Tom Selby, Oliver Kenton, Carmelo Almadin, Emilia Beesley, John Manser, Imogen Walton, Sean Richards and Millie Jones.
