Day 4 and this time the girls flying the flag for Woking. First up was Abi Stemp in the 200m fly event.  A flying start for Abi, a super quick first 50m in a split time of 31.34s and 100m split of 1:08.37 meant Abi was certainly on for a quick time.  Holding the last 100m rewarded Abi with a fantastic PB in a time of 2:27.11 and earned her a great 5th place seed in the evening’s finals.

Kiera followed with her second event of the Nationals, this time the 100m freestyle.  Driven by the great 50m swim earlier in the week, Kiera started with the second fastest split time, turning in 29.13s and holding the pace for a blistering PB swim of over a second in a time of 1:01.12.

A meteoric rise through the rankings from 17th to a 3rd place seed in the evening’s final! What amazing swims from both girls!

Tune in at 4.30pm for Abbi and approx. 7-7.30pm for Kiera.

All rested, Abi was first up in her 200m fly final.  A quick 50m split of 31.91sec and 100m of 1:08.43 meant she was was on par with her morning’s splits and turning in 3rd place all to swim for.  With many of the swimmers having a strong back end 100m split, Abi had some stiff competition in the final 100m.  Abi held on heroically all the way to the finish, only being touched out for 3rd place by  0.06secs to take an amazing 4th place in a storming PB of 2:24.35. An amazing final for Abi.

A long wait for Keira’s 100m free final!

With only 0.2 seconds separating 6 of the 10 final swimmers, the race was set to be an exciting one, and did not disappoint. Keira, after a cracking start, turned in second place in a split of 29.07. The final length saw all the girls almost neck and neck and only the final 5m deciding the medals. An extremely close race and Keira eventually placed 6th with yet another PB in a  time of 1:00.86.  A fantastic first Nationals for Keira!
