Jackson Spry 13th fastest in England!!!
On Saturday 4th August Jackson Spry (16) of Caradon Swimming Club, sponsored by BJ Taylor Construction and Groundworks, Peylnt competed at the English Nationals at Ponge Forge, Sheffield. This National Summer Meet is Swim England's largest domestic swimming event of the year. To qualify for this competition, swimmers need to be in the top 20 in England.

The past 2 months has seen Jackson train through a specific programme that has increased the amount he trains both in the pool and in the gym whilst at the same time studying for and completing his GCSEs.

Hard work pays off, Jackson went in to the meet as the 20th fastest swimmer in the 200m backstroke but leaves 13th fastest. A fantastic end to an amazing season.

Caradon Head Coach, Jason Quiterio has said, “the focus, determination and desire Jackson has demonstrated over the past 6 months is an example to any young swimmer. Swimming is a tough sport, when you race, there’s no places to hide. Your performances reflect how you train. In January, Jackson was ranked 85th in England, to finish the season ranked 35th in England and 13th at the English Championship is amazing and a great platform to build for next season. We are looking forward to setting new goals and training to achieve these.”

Jackson has said ”The last 6 months have been a bit of a whirlwind. Making my first regional final in May, then suddenly qualifying to swim at English nationals was certainly not on anyone’s agenda at Caradon. The training has been hard work but the race was an incredible experience and to finish 13th in England isn’t too bad!”

Huge congratulations to Jackson from everyone at Caradon.
