SCSC Swimmers at Nationals 2018

SCSC's Amy Davies qualified for the 16 years age group at the British Swimming Summer Championships in the  50 (16th)  100 (11th), 200 (7th), 400 (6th) and 800 (13th) freestyle as well as the 200 IM (22nd).  Amy began the week by swimming to a brilliant 7th place finish in the final of the 200 freestyle in a 2.05:80 just marginally outside her PB.  On Day 2 Amy produced a solid swim in the 800 freestyle to finish 13th and 16th in the 50 free on Day 3 followed by another consistent swim to finish 11th in the 100 freestyle on Day 4 missing the final by the smallest of margins (.02).  Amy had a brilliant end to the week producing a fantastic PB on Day 6 in the heats of the 400 freestyle to make the final and swam an amazing race and a huge 2 second PB finishing in 6th place.

Ella Corby also qualified for the 17/18 years 1500m at the British Summer Championships and swam almost a 7 second PB to finish in 15th just outside her target time of 18 mins (18.00.01) on the Friday!  After the weekend Ella took to the National Open Water event swimming the 5K in quite choppy conditions but she achieved her best ever placing (7th) in the 17/18 years age group.  Ella then went onto swim two events at Swim England National Summer Meet swimming to a PB in the 400 free heats to make the final where she also finished in 7th place in the 17+ age group.  Ella's highlight was her last event which was the 800 freestyle on Saturday 4th August where she swam a 3.7 second personal best (9.18.21) in a thrilling race to reach the podium and bring home the Silver Medal.
