Club swimmers sign off a successful 2018 season on an ultimate high

Swimmers across the club scored a number of personal bests, club records and podium finishes at the end of season meets. They displayed process, persistence and determination and all coaches have commented on the growth of each squad and individual swimmers - it’s great to see the swimmers attaining the results they trained for.

Firstly, our in-house club champs was a fantastic opportunity for every swimmer to race, compete against their peers as well as learn from their club role models. Stand out swimmers (to name a few) were Max Surminski in his backstroke events, Anna Pinto across the board and Marc Diaz de Tuesta. Lavinia Ricca and Edward Whittles also maintained their wave of success from the Regional Championships clocking many club records. An extended thank you to all club volunteers, coaches and officials - this event wouldn’t have been possible or so successful without you.

At the Staines’ Black Swan meet, Matilde La Magna shone bright especially in her breaststroke events. Matilde was identifiably growing in confidence at our club championships a few weeks earlier. To continue to progress in such a short space of time is fantastic. Coach Katia and newly appointed Advanced Development coach Drew also commented on the change in professionalism amongst swimmers competing for the first time at club champs to a few weeks later at Staines - WELL DONE!

Junior Performance and Advanced Development swimmers finished their long course season at the Northampton Summer meet. In extremely challenging conditions (in the 35 degree heat!) swimmers did a fantastic job at racing back to back events and scoring personal best times. Edward Whittles had a phenomenal 400 IM and team mate Lanre Pratt swam a superb 400 freestyle. It was good to see swimmers committing to race plans and reflecting on feedback from the coaches between events.

Finally, William Rudd had a great first English Summer Nationals at the start of August. He made the final for the 100 freestyle and broke the club record for that event!

Our competition calendar for the 2018/19 season is now live on the website. Every competitive squad will receive an email this week with the competitions they are due to enter until the end of November. The expectation is that swimmers will attend all competitions for their squad and all swimmers will be entered into the relevant competitions as a group.
