Summer may seem a long way away this week, but just a few short
weeks ago two Newbury swimmers took part in the National Swimming
Kaleb Fox-Jones competed in the 50m backstroke, finishing
fifth overall after recording personal bests in the heats and the
final, where he dipped under 30 seconds with a time of 29.88.
Freya Barlow qualified for both the 100m and 200m backstroke
events. In the 100m she qualified for the finals with a heat time
of 1:09.36 and finished in ninth place overall – just a year
after recording her first ever county time.
Well done to both of them.
A number of the club's masters have been enjoying international
competitions recently too.
Well done to Samantha Dredge, Kelli Jannaway and Liz Pudney,
who competed in the long course and open water European
Masters Championships in Slovenia.
All the details are on the Newbury Weekly News website and will be
in the paper this Thursday.
Well done to all of them.
