The award for the top male individual swimmer from the weekend was tied between Charlie Whyte (WSSC) and Oscar Goldsmith (Boston). The top female swimmer award went to Cerys Williams (WSSC).

Charlie Whyte (17yrs) was the standout swimmer representing the host club, taking home seven wins and 3 second place finishes. Further victories came in the 100m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 100m Freestyle, 50m Freestyle and the 100m Butterfly. Charlie also had a closely fought race with team mate Myles Turner in the 200m Freestyle event, just getting touched out on the wall.

In the girl’s events, Cerys Williams (13yrs) put in some great performances over the course of the weekend, winning seven events, taking home silver medals in three events and one bronze. Cerys’ biggest victory came in the girls 100m Freestyle, taking the win by nearly 2 full seconds. Gold medals were also won in the 50m Butterfly, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly and the 100m IM (Individual Medley) and 200m IM.

Closely behind Cerys in the top girl standings was Lucy Hudson (14yrs), winning the 400m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly and 100m IM. Marni Sillitoe (13yrs), Ella Hale (15yrs), Charlotte Hudson (15yrs) and Princess Martinez (12yrs) also made it in the top 10 overall girls from the weekend, finishing in 4th, 8th, 9th and 10th places respectively.

A huge thank you to the team of West Suffolk volunteers who helped out of the course of the weekend, to the officials from the host club and competing clubs who helped to make the possible and to Tina Hudson and Andrea O’Connor (WSSC Meet Promoters) for helping to organise the event.

Well done to West Norfolk Swimming Club for winning the Top Visiting Club trophy, just ahead of Newmarket & District Swimming Club in second and Boston Swimming Club in third.
