The second full day of club champs saw many more personal bests set, County times achieved and Midland qualification times reached which is a positive position as we head into the new year and the start of County Championships. Not all our swimmers were competing for qualifying times though- our youngest swimmers were getting a feel for what an open meet is like, some of our Masters swimmers were competing at Club Champs for the first time and many of our SDS swimmers don't regularly compete but this was a chance for them to record some personal best times on the ASA rankings. We've seen families competing against each other - the Schinagls went head to head in many events and young Toby H was trying to keep up with Dad Kevin! The skins competition was the highlight of the afternoon - Qualifiers for the junior girls were Immy, Ava, Anna, Jess, Ella, Noor and Ava was crowned winner. Qualifiers for the junior boys were - Cam, Noah, James B, Matt, Oliver, Jensen with Noah clincing a win on his favourite stroke fly. The qualifiers for the senior girls were Becky, Elspeth, Amelia, Katie, Jenna and Ella with the breastrokers Ella and Katie going head to head and Ella taking the senior title. Our senior boys qualifiers were Jacob, Jake, Will T, James, Tom and Ben - Jacob doesn't usually have the luck of the draw and when the words breaststroke were announced on the final round with Jake he really couldn't believe his luck but he's obviously been working on his stroke as he stormed down the pool determined to take the senior title! All the results are now available on team unify and are recorded on the ASA rankings - awards will made for the skins and age group catagories at the club presentation evening in January. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this years championships a success - a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes as well as on the day itself. Until we meet again next year - well done everyone and we hope to see you all at the presentation evening.
