Head Coach Appointment

Head Coach Appointment

On behalf of the Committee we are pleased to announce the appointment of Stewart Park as the new Head Coach of Norwich Swan Swimming Club. We are committed to working together with Stewart to ensure his vision for the club comes to fruition and we are sure all our club members will join us in wishing him every success in his new role. We look forward to a successful 2019 for the club and its swimmers.

Below is a message from Stewart:

Firstly, I would like to say how pleased and proud I am to be appointed as the Head Coach of Norwich Swan Swimming Club.

Since the beginning of my career in coaching swimming, it has always been my dream to develop a big club within Norfolk, the county in which I, myself grew up swimming in. I have always wanted to build that club into a County, Regional and National power and I believe that with the potential we have at Norwich Swan, we can do that. It is my belief that we can be elite whilst still holding the values of Norwich Swan close. To me, being elite doesn't mean that you see the children as only Swimmers, you still see them as individuals.

I believe that at Norwich Swan we have all the ingredients we need in order to be successful: we have strong foundations within the club’s Learn to Swim and Development squads. We have dedicated and knowledgeable coaching staff who care about the swimmers. We also have the pool time in order to develop the swimmer’s skills and create success at all levels.

I place a strong importance on the communication between the swimmers, coaches and parents and everyone understanding their individual role to ensure the success of the swimmer. I also feel that is important to celebrate the success of each swimmer, whatever that level of success may look like.

Over the next few months, we will be reviewing the current structure of the club, identifying the strengths and weaknesses to ensure that we put a programme in place, which moving forwards, allows every swimmer to have a pathway to achieve their full potential.

I want to thank the committee for placing their faith in me and supporting me in such an important role and I look forward to working with both the committee and the coaching staff to continue growing Norwich Swan into the powerhouse that it truly can be.
