Entry is via the clubs website, please select each session as advertised and then selected the races you want to enter, if unsure on events please discuss with your squad coach.

We would like to encourage all members from Advanced Teaching through to the Performance Squads to participate. It’s a celebration of swimmers progress after completing this year’s training/teaching programs and gives all club members an opportunity to compete in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Parents have the opportunity to watch their children swim which I know is not always possible and see how they have progressed.

The Club Shop will be in operation at this event and a small spectator entry fee will be charged to help with pool hire costs and well as a raffle running with some excellent prizes.

The Championship program will be emailed to all club members by our events manager the week prior to each session.

The meet is licensed level 4 so all times swum will be recorded on the ASA rankings and will count towards open meet entry and County qualification in 2020. Many swimmers may not have recorded times or swum certain events for a while so this provides swimmers with the opportunity to swim the full range of aquatic events. Distance Club Championships for 800m and 1500m Freestyle will be held later in the year likely to be in November details to be confirmed.

We would like to encourage all swimmers from the Staines Academy Pathway to take part but if you are not able too we have put three sessions on to replace those missed due to the Championships at Spelthorne.  These will be as follows;

Sunday 9th June 6-7pm Bishopsgate School – Masters/Academy and Junior Academy

Sunday 16th June 6-7pm Bishopsgate School - Masters/Academy and Junior Academy

Sunday 23rd June 6-7pm Bishopsgate School - Masters/Academy and Junior Academy

Although a relaxed event aimed at participation there are traditional awards for the overall winners of each age boys and girls group called “The Victor Ludorum”, presented at the Annual Awards evening on Saturday 29th June. Age groups are in year of birth following Swim England format, age as of 31st December 2019.

Swimmers will receive points for each event swum based on their time called FINA points (World Governing body scoring) these will be totalled at the end of the championships to decide the overall winners. The top six swimmers in each age group will also be awarded a certificate to be presented at the Annual Awards evening.

To run these events for club members we do need the support of our volunteer helpers and officials. If you are able to help please sign up on the “Jobs Sign Up” tab on the website next to the event, if you are new to the club or competitions and want to be part of the growing support team please email me for further details of how to support the clubs swimmers.

All help is very much appreciate and supports swimmers enjoyment and development.

Swim Wales Summer Meet – 29th July – 2nd August 2019

The Swim Wales Summer Meet is the clubs target away meets for the season specifically aimed at swimmers in the performance and competitive squads. The meet invites the top Welsh swimmers to compete as Welsh Nationals and then is opened up to Swim England members as open entry therafter.

The meet follows National Event format with heats in the morning and finals in the afternoon/evening run over five days.

Swimmers are encouraged to enter the meet especially if they have aspirations of national qualification in the future, the experience alone is fantastic. Swimmers in the performance squads are conditioned to peak at the end of the season and third training cycle so for those developing swimmers the Welsh Open provides the perfect event to compete in national format and an Olympic sized pool in Swansea. Weather you go for one day or all five it’s a great stage to compete on and a real team event for the club with over 15 swimmers competing in last year’s competition and multiple medals were won.

As the meet follows National Event format age groups are 12 years to open, age on 31st December 2019. 2007 born swimmers upwards.  Entry times and full meet information is on the website.

Open entry is secured on a first come first served basis via the Swim Wales website. Open entry starts on Thursday 27th June. I will update everyone on the exact time entry opens; it’s advisable to enter as soon as possible once entry opens to secure your place at the meet. You’ll need swimmers Swim England number, personal details and ranked times secured from 30th July 2018 onwards. Times from Level 1,2 and 3 meets are accepted not level 4.

If you require help or advice with regard to events to enter please see your squad coach or contact me directly.

If staying in a hotel the usual recommended is the Village Hotel Swansea -

There are a multitude of hotels in Swansea which cater for all budgets, it’s not recommended to book till you have confirmation of your events from Swim Wales.
