Gala 3 - East Midlands Championships 2019

The 18th and 19th May 2019 saw the final gala of this years East Midland Regional Championships held at Ponds Forge, International Pool, Sheffield.

Once again Nova Centurion swimmers did excellently at this final weekend of competition with 20 swimmers securing individual medal success. Over this final weekend Nova swimmers came away with 26 Gold, 21 Silver and 18 Bronze medals. 

When the medal tables from all 3 East Midland Regional Championship Galas are combined it is clear to see that Nova Centurion Swimming Club were almost unrivalled this year within the region with Northampton Swimming Club finishing runners up with less than half of the Gold medals that Nova secured. This success demonstrates that the swim programme being headed by Director of Coaching Nathan Hilton continues to deliver year on year improvements. 

Included in the medal haul from this final weekend of competition was not only individual successes but also the 4 x 100m Nova relay teams who impressed with 1 team Gold, 4 team Silver and 1 team Bronze medals. The medal winning teams also qualified for the British Summer Championships to be held in Glasgow later this year with their times presenting some of them with realistic medal opportunities. 

The 14-16yrs Girls 4 x 100m Free Relay team comprising of Freya Colbert 15yrs, Jessica Reed 15yrs, Chloe Quinn 16yrs and Livia Kingsland 14yrs won Gold in a winning time of 4.03.43 nearly 2 seconds clear of their nearest rivals South Lincolnshire.

The 14-16yrs Girls 4 x 100m Medley Relay team comprising of Emma Erskine 15yrs, Kate Morris 14yrs, Livia Kingsland 14yrs and Freya Colbert 15yrs won Silver medals.

The 14-16yrs Boys 4 x 100m Medley Relay team comprising of Joshua Skinner 16yrs, Luke Derivan 15yrs, Joseph Sadler 16yrs and Tom Trueman 15yrs won Silver medals. 

The 17yrs and older Girls 4 x 100m Medley Relay team comprising of Courteney Price, Cira Fletcher, Molly Colbert and Mollie Wright won Silver medals. 

The 17yrs and older Girls 4 x 100m.Free Relay team comprising of Courteney Price, Molly Colbert, Mollie Wright and Rebecca Flisher won Silver medals.

The 14-16yrs Boys 4 x 100m Free Relay team comprising of Joseph Sadler 16yrs, Joshua Skinner 16yrs, Andrew Hall 16yrs and Tom Trueman 15yrs won Bronze medals.    

Once again it was Nova's sensational young female swimmer Freya Colbert 15yrs who stole the limelight winning 7 Gold medals this weekend giving her a 100% Gold medal success rate over this weekend. Nova's top male swimmer this weekend was Liam Dawson 14yrs who came away with an impressive medal haul of 4 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

Freya Colbert 15yrs (7,0,0) won Gold in 14/15yrs 400m Freestyle final in a time of 4.18.23 as well as taking Gold in her own 15yrs age group for this event. Freya also won Gold in the 200m Individual Medley final in a time of 2.20.85. Freya also won Gold in the 100m Freestyle final in a time of 57.90 some 3.5 seconds clear of her nearest rival. Freya also won Gold in the 200m Freestyle final in a winning time of 2.04.65. Freya also won Gold in the 14/15yrs final of the 400m Individual Medley in a winning time of 4.54.66 nearly 12 seconds ahead of her nearest rival this also meant she won Gold in her individual age group. 

Liam Dawson 14yrs (4,1,2) won Gold in the 200m Freestyle final in a time of 2.01.71. Liam also claimed Bronze in the 14/15yrs final of the 400m Individual Medley which also won him Gold in his own 14yrs age group. Liam won Bronze in the 14/15yrs 400m Freestyle final which also won him Gold in his own age group. Liam also won Gold in the 200m Butterfly final in a winning time of 2.16.28. Liam also won Silver in the 100m Butterfly final.

Emma Erskine 15yrs (3,2,0) won Gold in the final of the 100m Backstroke in a time of 1.07.16. Emma also won Gold in the 200m Butterfly final in a time of 2.22.00. Emma also won Gold in the 200m Backstroke final in a winning time of 2.23.76. Emma won Silver in the 14/15yrs final of the 400m Individual Medley which also won her Silver in her own age group. 

Tom Trueman 15yrs (2,0,1) won Gold in the 200m Freestyle final in a time of 1.59.50. Tom also won the Gold medal in the 100m Freestyle final in a winning time of 55.02. Tom also won Bronze in the 100m Backstroke final. 

Elliot Sibley 14yrs (2,0,0) won Gold in the final of the 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1.12.36. He made it a double Gold medal haul by winning the 200m Breaststroke in a time of 2.34.93

Livia Kingsland 14yrs (1,3,0) won Silver in the 14/15yrs 400m Freestyle final as well as taking Gold in her own 14yrs age group for this event. Livia also won Silver in 200m Butterfly final. Livia also won Silver in the 200m Freestyle final. 

Joseph Sadler 16yrs (1,1,4) won Bronze in the 16yrs and over 400m Freestyle final in a huge Personal Best time of 4.06.02 which also saw him win Gold in his individual age group. Joseph also won Silver in the 200m Freestyle final. Joseph also won Bronze in the 100m Butterfly final. Joseph also won Bronze in the 200m Individual Medley final and another Bronze in the 100m Freestyle final. 

Kate Morris 14yrs (1,1,2) finished 4th in the 14/15yrs 400m Individual Medley final but this was enough to win her Gold in her own age group in a time of 5.14.70. Kate also won Silver in the final of the 200m Individual Medley. She also won Bronze in the 100m Backstroke final and another Bronze in the 200m Backstroke final. 

Joshua Skinner 16yrs (1,1,1) won Gold in the 200m Backstroke final in a winning time of 2.10.16. Joshua Skinner also placed 8th in the 16yrs and over 400m Freestyle final which was enough to win him the Bronze medal in his individual age group. Joshua also won Silver in the 100m Backstroke final. 

Iona Colbert 14yrs (1,1,1) won Gold in the 100m Backstroke final in a time of 1.06.33. Iona also won Silver in the 200m Backstroke final. She also won Bronze in the 200m Individual Medley final. 

Lily Jackson-Oates 14yrs (1,0,0) won Gold in the final of the 200m Breaststroke in a time of 2.48.80.

Joseph Kingsland 16yrs (1,0,0) won Gold in the final of the 200m Individual Medley in a winning time of 2.13.13.

Mollie Wright 21yrs (0,2,1) won Silver in the 16yrs and over 400m Individual Medley final which also won her Silver in her individual age group. Mollie also won Bronze in the 200m Individual Medley final. 

Courteney Price 21yrs (0,2,0) won Silver in the 17yrs and over final of the 100m Backstroke and another Silver in the 200m Backstroke final. 

Ellie Spokes 16yrs (0,2,0) won Para Silver in the final of the 100m Backstroke in a time of 2.13.86. She also won Para Silver in the 200m Individual Medley final. 

Michael Reas 19yrs (0,1,0) won Silver in the 19yrs and over 200m Backstroke final.  

Cira Fletcher 21yrs (0,0,2) won Bronze in the 17yrs and over 200m Breaststroke final and Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke final. 

Chloe Quinn 16yrs (0,0,1) won Bronze in the 200m Freestyle final. 

Charlie Canavan 14yrs (0,0,1) won Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke final. 

Max Davies 14yrs (0,0,1) won Bronze in the 200m Backstroke final.
