Last(ish) call for swimmers up for a challenge

For those swimmers up for a challenge, on behalf of Somerset ASA, KASC organises the now annual Long distance qualifier meet - this year on Saturday 30th November. NEW this year:

- addition of the two 400m events - which are entered as a pair

- at Millfield School, short course so a warm-up/warm-down pool is available

- on a Saturday, so doesn't interfere with Sunday training

- licensed at Level 3, so times achieved can qualify for county and regional championships

This is a rare chance for swimmers to get their first middle (400m free AND IM entered as a pair) or long distance (800m OR 1500m) event times. Swimmers entering the two 400m event will be allowed plenty of rest in between.

This year, as previously, we have swimmers entered from Junior, Age Group and Regional Potential squads. The coaches will be informed of who has entered, so those swimmers will have training to prepare them. Do speak to the coaches if your swimmer is unsure of what to enter (in which case the answer is likely to be "the 800m"). For the 800m and 1500m there will be lap cards and whistles to ensure the swimmers keep count (and any swimmer stopping early in the 400m free will be told to carry on). Any swimmer who has done a T20 in training, which is practically all of our swimmers, will do themselves justice in the 800m.

Finally, do say in the notes if you have a strong preference for the morning or afternoon session in the notes section of the entry system on our website events page. Closing date for entries is 13th October 2019.
