The Head Coach has asked me to put inplace an education programme for all parents in the club who want to understand more about swimming, how it impacts on their child and how best to support the swimmer, the coach and the club to see the child thrive and perform to the best of their ability level.
These sessions will be open to every parent in the club regardless of your child's squad.
The session titles and dates are listed below:-
Friday 3rd April
Tips for parents on how to feed a training athlete. What and when they should be eating and drinking - how much - and when they might need at add a supplement and what supplements are best.
Friday 5th June
Surviving Being a Swimming Parent
Learn how to turn failures into great learning lessons, how to support/encourage and when to say nothing. How to build a strong working relationship with the coach and how that impacts on your child.(In ths session I will also cover the basics ie progressive equipment and race suits)
Friday 11th Sep
Getting The Right Mindset
Learn how your child's mental appraoch will impact on training and racing and how best to manage and improve their performance in this area.
Friday 13th Nov
Land Training And Why It Is So Important To Swimmers
Learn the how land training impacts on a swimmers performance, how and when it should be introduced into the swimming programme.
All sessions will be at Sport Central, we will meet in reception at 7pm. The meetings will be informal and you will have the chance to ask questions. I don't claim to know all the answers but I have parented and coach from junior to elite level swimming and I'm more than happy to share what I have learnt over the last twelve years with you all.
These meetings are not mandatory they are simply for parents who would like to know more about the sport, and how to make their child's journey a postive one.
