Following on from the Government briefing this afternoon, Swim England have issued new guidance to clubs which is contained in the following link:
The key highlights are as follows:
“At present the Government has not closed schools or restricted school activity and therefore we do not see any reason why clubs should not continue with their training programmes in their own environment within the guidelines of the facility"
On the basis of this advice training will continue, however, there is a risk that our coaching team may find themselves in a situation where they have to self isolate. If for any reason we are unable to staff a session due to lack of coaches then members will be notified asap by email and on Team Unify so please can we ask all parents or members to check their messages before they leave for training.
No swimmer or family member should attend the session if they are presenting the symptoms of the virus - persistent cough and/or high temperature and should refrain from returning to the club until they have self isolated for a period of 14 days.
Please can all swimmers follow the previous guidance issued which is to shower before and after entering the pool and continue with good handwashing practices. If you find that soap is not available in the changing rooms please report this to reception.
With regards to forthcoming competitions the advice is:
'All competitions organised by the national governing body that are scheduled to be held between now and the end of May have been called off.'
' “We do not recommend training camps or competitions take place with members from different clubs.'
On the basis of this advice the Club will not be participating in the Notts ASA Stage Leagues and the Derby & Notts League. Our Masters Open meet has been cancelled at the end of the month and also the Junior Gala. It's likely that we will hear news over the next few days about Open meets being cancelled and as soon as we receive notification about refunds we will notifiy those people who have entered. East Midands ASA are yet to announce about regionals but it's unlikely to go against the Swim England advice.
As you will appreciate the club are having to monitor this unprecedented situation daily and we are doing our very best to make the right decisions based on the welfare of our members, communicate with you as best we can, as well as juggling the virus implications in our day jobs. You may not agree with these decisions, and we appreciate the disappointment our swimmers must be feeling, but please can you respect the actions that the club are taking. We all need to work together to protect ourselves and each other. If you have any questions please can you raise these with Kath Needham.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operaation.
