Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club has been following guidance from our governing body, Swim England. Last night Swim England published their latest advisory on club swimming. It states, “Having further reviewed the guidance, it is Swim England’s interpretation that club activity falls into the ‘public gathering’ category and therefore it is strongly advising clubs to consider cancelling or postponing activity – including events – until the end of May.” Even though GLL has said that the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre is to remain open for the time being, we have decided to suspend all CSCSC training effective immediately. We recognise this might be quite upsetting for many people but ultimately we feel it’s the right decision for our members, our club, and our greater community. We will evaluate our closure frequently and continue following guidance from Swim England.
Many of the measures being implemented to combat COVID-19 across the world will cause unfortunate financial impact. This is true for our club as well. We are hoping to reduce fees over this period of time but also recognise that we must ensure the long-term viability of CSCSC. Please be patient while we evaluate the best way forward.
We have encouraged our coaches to send out land training programmes for their swimmers to help keep everyone engaged and fit. We are also investigating online options to help make it more fun and interactive. We hope everyone continues to stay as active as possible while remaining home.
We wish everyone the best in this most difficult time.
