Message from Dimitri, Chairman

I hope you are all keeping healthy and well during these unprecedented and challenging times. Now, more than ever, our loved ones, families, friends and beloved neighbours give us the strength and support to come out of this stronger! On that note, we at FSC are also doing our very best, and coaches working incredibly hard, to help as much as we can too, aiming to keep our swimmers morale and physical condition high. We are all so happy to see such fantastic response to our weekly virtual workouts, family fun sessions, coach challenges, fun trivia and other competitions! Also, a BIG thank you to all of the members who continue to pay their membership fees - the response to our request for support has been incredible so far! I will send out a separate note on this, so please watch out for it. Stay healthy, be safe and smile; better days are ahead!

If you have any questions or comments, you can contact me or any member of the committee or by email. Our contact details can be found on the FSC website and via this link Committee members.

Message from Sean, Head Coach

As we finish the first week of live sessions, I am incredibly happy with the turnout and the success of these sessions. We continue to do all we can to cater for every member during the current circumstances. We have firmly established and increased our social media outlets through continuing to grow the facebook page, introducing a Club instagram and building the FSC YouTube channel. We now have our own licensed Zoom account for exclusive FSC live content and it has been great to see many getting involved and working out with the team this week.

Behind the scenes the team and I are in constant communication and meet weekly. We are continuing to develop and improve the programme, alongside evolving and developing the current virtual training grid.

We are also in the process of implementing staff CPDs for continued career development. These are internal workshops coupled with staff also getting involved in a number of external workshops provided by Swim England, British Swimming and the South East Region.

I am exploring options and designing a plan for how we can gradually reintroduce swimmers into the pool when the time comes. Rest assured this will be technique focused, minimising the risk of injury to all. Of course, this is a far from a straight forward process, with such a high level of uncertainty, but rest assured we are doing all we can to make sure we are prepared in advance.

Please, if you havent already, get involved in the live sessions they are a lot of fun.  It’s the same login details you have received previously. If you need this information to be resent do not hesitate to email me.

I would like to finish, with a big personal heart felt thank you, on behalf of me and the coaching team to the FSC Committee and you, the Club members, for all your support during this time. We are a family and everything you are doing to support the Club is really helping both myself and the coaching team continue to build the programme as we finish this season and move into next. The Club’s community spirit is its core and its what makes us so unique in comparison to other programmes. This is what shines through during this time and is bringing us closer together and in the longer term stronger than ever.

Stay safe and thank you.
