Update from James Davies, Chair of Haringey Aquatics

Update on getting back in the water

Dear swimmers, parents and guardians,

I hope that you are all safe and well.

As you will know, leisure facilities in Haringey are reopening after the lockdown and the Lido at Park Road pools is now open to members of the public, albeit on a restricted basis.

At the start of July, we were hopeful that we could resume training by the end of the month. Unfortunately this has not been possible as Fusion has not allocated us any time in the Lido at Park Road and all our indoor pools remain shut. I appreciate the frustration this is causing you all.

I want to reassure you that we are working hard to restart training and are in regular contact with Fusion, Haringey Council and the schools that provide us with pool time.

We are not the only club in this position and our experience is being mirrored by most London clubs. Many of those do not currently have any access to any pool-time and do not expect to be back in the pool until September at the earliest.

Needless to say, we will continue to press Fusion for an early date and to add our voice to Swim England's campaign to get the pools re-opened as soon as possible.

May I thank you for your patience.

James Davies

Chair of Haringey Aquatics
