Coaching Announcement

We are pleased to inform you that Coach Loretta DeSilva will be taking on the mantle of Lead Coach for our Academy Silver and Gold squads effective immediately.  Most of you will already know Loretta and many of you will have already worked with her in your squad training sessions.  Loretta will be taking over from Coach Karen who she has worked closely with over the past few months with the Academy squad.  Loretta has a great passion for swimming and also helping people be the best they can be.  Loretta has achieved the new Swim Coach Level 2 Qualification where she impressed with her thorough research and development. Loretta will be the point of contact for all things related to the Silver and Gold Academy squads.  Loretta will be working with support from other members of our coaching team and will be working closely with myself and Academy Bronze coaches to ensure that we have the best possible preparation and foundations for our club swimmers.

In addition to this and following a series of successful interviews, we are delighted to welcome Daisy Moore to our Coaching team. Daisy will officially join us on Thursday 17th January.  Daisy will become lead coach for the Age Group Competition and Competitive Development squads, as well as working with our other squads on a regular basis.  Daisy has just returned to the Hampshire area following the completion of her BSc in Sports Coaching from Leeds Beckett University.  Daisy is a Level 2 Qualified Swimming Coach and Teacher and has experience in working in both the club coaching and lessons teaching environments, most recently working with a variety of squads and levels within Basingstoke Bluefins.  Daisy is a former swimmer herself and competed to National level.  In addition to this, Daisy has sought additional professional development and since 2015 has been a member of the Mel Marshall Swim Camps staff (Mel Marshall is the long time coach of GB Olympic Champion Adam Peaty).

Following feedback from swimmers, parents and coaches, and recognising some challenges that are present we have taken the opportunity of Daisy joining us to secure greater consistency in coaching across the squads. Whilst it is good for all swimmers to experience working with different coaches, of which opportunities will always arise, we appreciate the importance of squads building relationships with their coach and consistency in delivery and development and so have ensured that all squads have a key figure in charge of their development.

To enable the above to be implemented, there are a couple of minor changes needed to the training grid to allow the improved consistency to be present for swimmers across the club.  This is to enable lead coaches to be able to work with squads on a majority and consistent basis and to maximise pool time and increase efficiency and quality. The updated training grid can be found in the usual location on this website once you have logged in to the site.  If you are the parent of a swimmer and do not currently have access to Team Unify then please contact admin@rrsc.co.uk to ensure that you gain the access you need to the system and website.

Best Regards
