Hampshire Counties - Day Two

Day two of the Hampshire County Swimming Championships started with a bang as Ruby S took the Girls 12yr 400 individual medley title to bring the Royals gold medal tally to two but this was only the start. Madison J took the bronze in the same event, Ella S went one better than yesterdays 800 bronze to take silver in her age group and not to be outdone Paige A-B was also crowned Country Champion in the 13yr age group. However, the boys were not going to let the girls take all spoils with Theo M taking his second silver of the championships in the 12yr 400 freestyle.

Spectators had only a few minutes to catch their breathe before the first relay events completed the first session of the day.  Here, the 10-12yr girls Green team of Madison J, Poppy E, Skye A-B and Ruby S took both the 200 freestyle and medley relays in a convincing manner with the Black team of Emily L, Amelie F, Sophie D and Francesca P also taking bronze in the same medley relay event.

Session 3 of the championships began in familiar fashion with Theo M taking silver in his 400IM whilst Francesca P and Poppy E followed up their relay medals with a silver and bronze respectively in the 10/11yr 400 freestyle event.  The Rushmoor girls then continued their dominance with Ruby S and Ella S winning silver medals in their respective age groups in the same event.  Finally, following her first title in the 800 the previous night Rosie R took her second county title in the 13yr 400 freestyle event. Could things possibly get any better for the swimmers in Green and Black?

Well, the boys 10-12yr relay squad of Theo M, Harry S, Henry B and Daniel P were not going to let the girls take all the headlines and set about taking the field apart to win the both the 200m freestyle and medley relays with a dominant display of swimming.  To round the evening off the 10-14yr girls relay squad of Ella S, Rosie R, Paige A-B and Madison J took yet more medals home with them with the gold medal swim in the freestyle relay and bronze medal in the medley relay.

All swimmers, parents and coaches will be looking forward to a rest overnight before it all starts again on Sunday with the 4x200 FR relays and 1500m freestyle events.

At the end of Day Two the medal tally for the Rushmoor Royals stands as follows:
