Cheddar Kingfishers Swimming Club Cotswold League Round Three
Cheddar Kingfishers travelled to Chilton Trinity Pool in Bridgwater for round three of 2019 Cotswold League. The team faced strong competition from teams from Bridgwater, Bristol Penguins and Bristol North. Between them the swimmers had eight first places and six second place finishes.
Sophie Warren got the team off to a good start finishing second in the 15 years and under individual medley, in which Sam Easton, Anna Wadey and Simon Toogood also produced strong swims. Phoebe Hillman put in strong swim in the 25m Freestyle, to take second place. Lucy Slingsby set a new best time in the 100m Butterfly, in which Jeff Hill finished first.
The girls eleven years and under Freestyle and Medley relay team (Jemima Seagrove, Grace Hurst, Tilly Hulah and P. Hillman) finished first. Patrick Forrester was first in the 50m Breaststroke, and Tilly Hulah second in the 25m Butterfly. Jemima Seagrove won the 25m Backstroke and Sam Easton the 50m Butterfly. There was a strong second place finish for the boys thirteen and under Medley relay team (Ed Hardman, Finley Halford, Bertie Thomas and Fergus Hammond). Charlie Halford and Grace Hurst were first and second in the 25m Breaststroke and Olivia Iles first in the 50m Backstroke.
In the final event of the night the canon the team of Seagrove, C. Halford, Iles, Hardman, Megan McClumpha, Easton, Josie Morgan and Toogood finished second.
There were strong swims and real determination from George Young, Holly Cockram, Maggie Hammond, Issac Nichols, Ewan McClumpha, Sam Hutchinson, Emily Hillman, Lucy Todd, Brad Linklater, Jess Ferrris, Sergio Wadey and Callum Pitt, many of whom were making their debut for the club, and all contributed to the teams final points total.
