As always a massive thank you to all our volunteers at both locations. Additionally we also had to record at Enfield and thanks to Rob for helping with what proved to be a difficult evening.
There was a great team spirit at Enfield, between both Clubs, swimmers and volunteers so thank you to everyone.
This year’s Herts League saw a first for both Berkhamsted & Tring swimming clubs as they both entered a club team and came together for a joint team.
The Berkhamsted club team swam at Furzefield, Potters Bar in Division 1 and came a creditable 5th on the night whilst the joint squad, in Division 2, came 4th in their gala at Southbury Rd, Enfield.
The BSC team saw a win and pb for Issy Soulsby in the first race as she went pb in the Open 100m Free in 1:02.12 setting the tone for the night.
Seren Diehl pocketed the win in the U12 50m Back (38.94), as did Abbie Briers, dropping her 2 week old best to 1:04.78 to take the U16 100m Free as a 13 year old.
The first set of relays produced wins for the U16 Girls medley (Lara Coster, Tamsin Moren, Alex Farnham & Abigail Briers – 2:19.30) and the U14 Girls Free squad (Kate Hopper, Caitie Walters, Josie Reid & Emma Hockney – 2:07.27).
Tamsin Moren followed her successful County Champs with a win in the U16 100m Breast in 1:21.90 and Fergus Reid took the honours in the U14 100m Back with 1:09.79.
In the second round of relays the U16 girls replaced Lara Coster with Lydia Wisely to take the Free relay for a double victory.
There were personal bests for Euan Donald (Open 100m Free – 59.25); Austin Clements (U12 50m Back – 43.20); Lara Coster (U16 100m Fly – 1:28.96); Mia Maslen Wollington ((U14 100m Breast – 1:35.98); Vicky Ayles (Open 100m Back – 1:22.01); Martha Lyon & Ollie Brandwood (U12 50m Breast – 56.13 & 47.13); Fergus Reid, swimming up (U16 100m Free – 1:01.76 ); Ronan Philbin (U14 100m Fly – 1:24.23); Kate Hopper & Eric Batt (U14 100m Free – 1:07.48 & 1:11.10); Izzy MacDonald (Open 100m Fly – 1:19.79); a second one for Seren Diehl when second in the U12 50m Free (34.06) and also in the U12 Free, Will Franklin (38.85); Hockney (U14 100m Back – 1:24.70) alongside several relay lead off bests across the night.
For the Joint team Daisy Knight took an individual win in the U14 50m fly posting 39.22 and there was a Medley Relay win for the U14 squad of Issy Whitaker, Katrina Dolton, Daisy Knight & Morgan Slade with 1:10.13.
A very young squad were not overawed by having to swim multiple races and in many cases up the age groups.

Ed Mayock (Open Free 1:07.47 & Back 1:35.72); Pippa Coulston & George Vila (U12 50m Back – 51.15 & 57.08); 12 year old Luca Greene in the U16 100m Fly for the first time with 1:43.08 & U16 Free 1:18.01; George Gray (U14 100m Breast – 1:33.28); Maya Barker & Joseph Taylor-Smith (U12 Breast 59.01 & 1:04.36); Florence Ashwell (U16 Back – 1:29.57); Katrina Dolton another 12 year old in the Open 100m Breast with 1:29.20 and 2nd place; Charlotte Finch & Ed Eastaff (U14 Free – 1:14.32 & 1:37.09); Tracy Van Deventer (Open 100m Fly 1:18.06); Maya McGregor (52.21) & Jack Suthern (42.78) for the U12 Free; Saff Harding & Jacob Alleyne (U16 Breast – 1:43.64 & 1:43.82) and Phoebe Goss (U14 Back 1:31.81.
They included Down Syndrome GB swimmer Ciara McKenna in the joint team line up along with Erin Deacon, Destiny Carnell, Talia Williams, Daisy Laing, Lawson Gray, Ollie Miles, Aston Over, William Barnes in the joint team and David Graham, Ezi Svichla-Fekete, Chris Hughes, Evie Watson, Owen Strakosch, George Thorne, Ish Rahim, Nell Coster, Bella Seddon, Pearce Clare, Nat Costelloe, Hugh Clare, Pierce Philbin, Riley Milne in the BSC club team.
Swimmer of the night awards went to Chris Hughes & Martha Lyon for the BSC team, Talia Williams & Katrina Dolton, Luca Greene and Ed Mayock for the joint team.
