Thrills at Maxwell Open Meet as the PBs came tumbling down

Two days of thrilling racing was on the cards for Tring Swimming Club at the Maxwell Open Meet competition recently, along with 15 clubs across Hertfordshire. Every second counted as 47 Tring swimmers pitched their all to improve on their PB’s, and they didn’t disappoint.

PBs tumbled all over the place. Florence Larner set the ball rolling taking nearly 3 seconds off her 100m Free, and bagging another 3.45 second PB in the tough 200m Breaststroke. Charlotte Finch swam very well, knocking 1.42 seconds of her PB in 50m back, and Lucy Hope brought in a marvellous 8.72 second PB on her 200m Breaststroke.

The 100m Backstroke produced more dynamite swims. Katrina and Isabella Dolton both thrashed their times, dropping a massive 13.75 seconds and 7.65 seconds respectively. Sophie Bradley proved all that training was finally worth it after a long wait, gaining a well-deserved 3 second PB. Molly Bradley also put in a great swim at under 1.10 seconds.

The Tring boys are just getting better and better. James Monks swam a strong 100fly gaining 3.84 seconds on his PB, and really attacked the 200m Breaststroke beating his own PB by a fabulous 18.48 seconds. Oliver Soloman’s performance keeps improving, nailing a near 9 second PB in 200m Breaststroke, and 5.24 seconds off his 100m Free PB.

Younger swimmers are really gaining in confidence, with the gala proving a great opportunity for picking up the best techniques for competition. The Club was delighted to see Jessica Hands having an amazing event, taking over 12 seconds off her PB in 100m Backstroke, plus 6 seconds in both the 50m Backstroke and 100m Free. Sebastian Cacchioli did really well, hitting great new times in 100m IM and 50m Free. And both Maiya Barker and Lottie Soffe showed real progress. With Maiya rewarded with 3 seconds off her PB in the 50m Breaststroke, and Lottie taking more than 5 seconds off her 100m Free and her 50m Breaststroke.

Well done everyone!
