Clevedon swimmers back from a successful South West Regional Championships

Fifteen Clevedon swimmers have returned to training this week following their attendance at the prestigious Swim England South West regional championships, which took place across three weekends from 24th April – 8th May 2022.

Swimmers from around the South West region headed to pools in Millfield, Hengrove and Plymouth to attend the Level 1 meet. Clevedon swimmers were well represented throughout all age groups from aged 12 through to 18 and across all strokes.

Four swimmers achieved final places – Sam Ledward in the 16 year old age group for 50 back (6th), 100 back (10th) and 200 back (7th), Riley Price in the 14 year old age group for 50 breast (8th), 100 breast (6th) and 200 breast (7th) and Alex Parish in the 11/12 year old age group 200 breast (7th) and 200 IM (7th).

Jamie Steadman, recently back from the British Nationals, won both the 1500 free and 200 breast and placed 2nd in 200 IM, 3rd in 400 IM and 800 free and 4th in 400 free in the 15 year old age group.

Head Coach Pat Leaman said; “For some of our swimmers this was their first Regional competition, having lost two years to COVID lockdowns and cancellations.

Regionals is a massive step up and qualifying is a huge achievement. I’m so proud of them all.”
