Brighton Pier to Pier
2015
15 CSCSC Masters participated in this years annual Pier to Pier
race in Brighton. The uniqueness of this race is that year on year
the conditions can be completely different posing all sorts of
different challenges to the competitors.
Around 80 competitors in total spanning in age from 13 to 65 swam
1k in extremely choppy water from Brighton old pier to new pier.
Although the temperature of the water was a mild 18C, the extreme
wind on the beach made for extraordinarily turbulent seas. All 15
CSCSC Masters completed the course relatively comfortably under the
watchful eye of our coach Wojciech.
Four
of the top five male winners and top female winners were all under
15 years of age, proving once again that location is
everything...well youth had something to do with it! Nuala
Muir-Cochrane managed to retain her trophy for the first female
over 40, and finished 6th female overall just managing to touch
ahead of a 13 year old.
Superb swims from Tamsin Jaggs, Sara McGrath, Hilary Johnson,
Justine Gosling and Nikola and Charlotte Woodhams - their first
time in the P2P (a tough year to start!). Chris Hopton, Jason
Williams, Pete Jaggs and David Josephs represented the males of the
club. Great swims also from Naoko Fader and Elizabeth
Knowles.
